a ride not in Boulder - May 16

I meet Sarah in Golden for a sub-3 hour bike ride. This morning provided excitement for both of us. I was getting out of Boulder for a ride and Sarah was going to be 'mother-less' for 3 hours. When we started the ride, she convinced me to not to wear all my layers because we'd be going up hill very quickly. I'm so glad that I didn't wear all my layers because we started by riding up Lookout Mountain. What Sarah didn't know is that the last time I was on this road I was driving and completly freaking out because of the dropoff off the side. I am terrified of heights! I followed Sarah mostly up the hill so I wouldn't be tempted to look over the side. Needless to say, I made it to top! From there we went down the back side of the mountain which isn't as scaring as the front side. From there, we rode, HWY 40, the frontage road of I-70, back into Golden. From Golden, we went into Red Rock Park. The park is known for its very large red sandstone boulders. From Redrocks, we rode through the town of Morrison and then took the bike path back into Golden. All in all, was about a 30 mile ride and a total of 2:40 in the saddle.

After the ride, Sarah, Claire and I went into the town of Golden for lunch. All-in-all, I had a wonderful day. It felt like a vacation day since I left the bubble of Boulder.
